Tarana Parvin
A veteran Titan specializing in the Defender subclass, Tarana spent centuries protecting refugees in the wilds as a member of the Pilgrim Guard. Eventually she chose to stay and defend the Last Safe City. Nowadays she’s a captain of the Stoneborn, the order of Titans responsible for maintaining and defending the massive city wall. Her particular expertise is in the design and use of shields in combat. When on duty, she usually brings along a massive kite shield taller than she is and heavy enough to crush a human, taken from a Cabal phalanx long ago and upgraded repeatedly. She is resolute, benevolent and respectful of those around her, an honorable if no longer idealistic warrior. Tarana is the ranking Guardian in the Nexus team, and tends to act as the voice of the City’s laws and traditions in the group.
Kaolin Sorn
A gruff, quiet Gunslinger with a bent for exploring. An experienced Hunter and lethally stealthy scout, he’s most at home when he’s working alone in the wilderness. Despite his well-worn and practical gear, he’s still a model of poise and always manages to casually adopt the coolest pose at any given time. He is Blaze’s oldest friend besides her Ghost, having found her as a newborn Guardian in the wilds and guided her back to the City. She still looks up to him, even if he is sometimes bewildered at how he wound up attached to the noisy, gung-ho rookie Titan. Though dedicated to his work as a Guardian, Kaolin makes no pretense about putting his personal loyalties first, and came to the Nexus explicitly to rescue his friend.
Hirune Markel
A Warlock with a preference for the Voidwalker/Stormcaller subclasses. It’s hard for most people to get a handle on Hirune. Partly this is because she’s a reserved and private person, but she also seems to be a little detached at all times despite her compassion for others. Level-headed in peace and fearless in battle, Hirune is a strategist by nature, the most perceptive of the group when it comes to anything paracausal, metaphysical or magical. Professionally, she and her team are experts on the Vex, a species of hive-mind robots which utilize time travel and reality-altering weaponry. She’s the leader of Fireteam Markel, which makes up half the Nexus crew; as such she is technically the second-highest ranking Guardian behind Parvin, and her team-mates tend to look to her first.
Ulysses-10A Warlock specializing in the way of the Sunsinger, and a member of Hirune’s fireteam. Ulysses often comes across as critical, impatient and sharp-tongued… which he is. It’s easy to miss his genuine curiosity and desire to help – even if it is by challenging people to think about what they’re doing. He’s usually the one to ask awkward questions or question a party line, and spends a lot of time chasing conspiracy theories or heretical/unwanted knowledge from their world. Being a remnant of an ancient military R&D project himself, he’s perfectly well aware there are things that people don’t want him to know – and he wants all the answers he can get. Like Hirune, he specializes in studies of the Vex, including their ability to predict and manipulate timelines and reality itself. He has a somewhat abrasive friendship with Blaze, who he alternately helps and criticises, especially when he feels she’s wilfully blinding herself to important things.
Ime Turnstone
A Hunter who specializes as a Nightstalker, Ime tends to say little on the job. She’s the third member of Fireteam Markel, and sometimes considers herself the two Warlocks’ minder. Quick-witted, observant and sneaky, Ime’s specialization is cryptography and a very advanced form of lock-picking.
