The stretches of visible highways are lined with dark blots of rusted-out vehicles.

Blaze doesn’t think to comment on that: it’s what she expects to see around a city, and her attention is on getting them safely in to wherever this city kept its heart. To the old old city, where Jesse might recognize some of the weathered buildings and shifted park outlines and overgrown monuments.
