Fragment: Ash and Echoes

//…déjà vu. That’s the term. Ever get that? You know, like when you’re just there, looking at some ruins you’ve never seen before. Having a conversation, maybe. And it feels /familiar/. Like you’ve done exactly this before. Like there’s an echo.

//That happens often for you?

//Sure. Yesterday, when I rushed that corner with the pack of shanks around it? Couldn’t tell you if I made a good guess or I already knew. Half the time I don’t know what’s just programming.

//And what’s memory?

//Don’t you start. It’s weird enough already.

//Well, it… could be a good thing. Perhaps it will help ease the transition for you.

//Heh. Doesn’t really make things easier, Ghost. Catching a sense you’ve been someplace before doesn’t tell you what you did, or if it was good. Doesn’t tell you anything much. Pointless. Chasing echoes won’t help anyone.
